ReSoil

Remediation of toxic metals from the soil

Share: FB TW

Envit has developed the innovative ReSoil technology as part of the ReSoil project. The technology enables the cleaning of soil contaminated with heavy metals and toxic metalloids with affordable means and without harmful effects on the environment.

Developing such technologies is necessary, as we are already at a stage when human impact on the environment is so strong that self-renewal can no longer keep up. According to the European Environment Agency, around 250,000 contaminated sites in Europe should be cleaned up immediately. Toxic metals are dangerous for the environment and are transferred from the soil to plants and end up in the food chain. After cleaning, the ground remains fertile, and the cleaning process itself is relatively simple. Furthermore, the water used in the process is recycled. The whole process thus preserves water as a natural resource. In the development of technology, the project partners cooperated with the University of Ljubljana. The project aimed to present a successful local and international demonstration of innovative technology for cleaning contaminated soils.

At the end of the cleaning process, up to six kilograms of lead is removed from the soil.
